razor sharp

Congratulations The Edge!

These two Edgy characters seem made for each other.

Lost souls with no personality or judgement of their own, looking to the herd to think for them. They'll bond over their love of Nickelback.
You know your audience extremely well.
Your honesty in letting the rest of us know what they're really like is commendable.

  1. Imagine the brainstorming sessions for these masterpieces of cool. Will their target listeners be old enough to get the "Something about Mary" jism gel allusion? For that matter, are the agency uncreatives old enough?

  2. and what is the point of that allusion?? Have the uncreatives stumbled across that *old* movie so they put it in as an in-joke, thinking it would be indecipherable to all but themselves?

  3. I wonder if they're deliberately trying to attract dim and/or shallow listeners? Iris

  5. There's this crazy world of people out there who reference mainstream movies with the same zeal as academic snobs like us discuss the controversial use of marxist and feminist theory in a lecture. And they get really into it as well. I know people who would think the reference in the ad really witty and clever. The kind of people who talk about music and then, in all seriousness and with great profundity, say, "So, you know Radiohead? great band." Gee, thanks for that.

In other words, the Edge totally knows its market.

  6. In case, any one accuses me of dissing Radiohead, all I'm saying is that it's a given in most circles that they are a great band.

  7. Dear lord, I'm so pleased I've lived a life sheltered away from that particular crazy world!
